Vegetarian Pizza recipe

Vegetarian Pizza

Flour – 2 cups (1 cup whole wheat, 1 cup All Purpose)

Yeast – 2 and 1/4 tsp

Warm water – 1 cup (water temp should be comfortable to touch)

Sugar – 2 tsp

Salt – 1/2 to 1 tsp depending on taste

Olive oil – about 1Tbsp

1. Dissolve sugar in the warm water and add yeast. Let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.

2. Add half of the oil and salt and stir.

3. Combine the flours and start adding slowly and mixing into a dough. Add more flour as necessary (AP or wheat upto 1/2 cup) if it is sticky and knead 5-7 minutes to get a soft, smooth dough. Use some olive oil while kneading to keep the dough from sticking to fingers.

4. Cover the dough with plastic wrap or kitchen towel and let it rest in a warm place for 30-45 minutes. The dough will double in size.

5. Punch the dough down and divide into 2 balls of equal size. Roll out each ball into approx 10 inch diameter with the help of a rolling pin and some flour to prevent sticking. Put the base on a pizza baking sheet.

6. Punch some holes with a fork, top it with pizza sauce, veggies and cheese and bake in a maximum preheated oven for approx 8 to 10 minutes.
